LinkedIn is growing at a staggering
amount it's where most business
professionals interact on line in fact
it's been reported that 41% of
millionaires use this platform so having
a well-written
LinkedIn profile is a must if you are
trying to find a new job or trying to
land new clients and besides your
profile photo and your headline your
summary is one of the most important
sections of your LinkedIn profile and I
have to admit this is one of the hardest
sections for me to complete in my own
LinkedIn profile when I first started
using LinkedIn I wasn't sure how to
showcase my skills and I certainly
didn't know how to format this section
with some trial and error I learned how
to use my LinkedIn summary to go from
100 profile views in one week to now
almost 1,000 profile views in one week
so I'm going to show you how to do the
same let's jump into a tip number one
write your summary and first-person this
is something that I see business
professionals get wrong all the time to
make your summary more conversational
you want it to be in first person this
will make it easier and more natural for
you to compose your summary and it will
show you in a more personal light so
rather than saying Jane Doe is a driven
business owner you would say I am a
driven business owner tip number two is
to tailor your profile to a specific
position or industry the key to doing
this is to use key words key words are
words or phrases found within a job
posting that relate directly to the
qualifications and responsibilities of
an ideal candidate pinpoint these key
words by examining the job posting very
carefully make note of words or phrases
that you see multiple times when you
compose your summary make sure these key
words and phrases are used throughout
now for step-by-step instructions on how
to use LinkedIn to find a job I have a
quick LinkedIn job search tutorial that
I created just for you I'll go ahead and
link it up below tip number three
include an expertise section now because
around the topic of keywords let's also
talk about your expertise section this
is a section that you'll add to the very
end of your Linkedin summary that
includes all those keywords and phrases
that you pinpointed before you could
also call this section specialties make
sure it has 15 to 20 keywords or phrases
that an employer might search for when
they're looking for someone with your
specific skill set or experience for
example in my expertise section I have
LinkedIn profile strategies and LinkedIn
profile optimization and I even have
personal brand development tip number
four
keep your summary short and to the point
now Lincoln allows you 2,000 characters
in your summary however I wouldn't
recommend using that many characters
unless you need to our attention span as
human beings just keeps getting shorter
here's a good rule of thumb include two
to three paragraphs with two to three
sentences in each paragraph I like to
call this the two by three role keep in
mind also that the first few lines of
your summary are the most important this
is what someone sees when they first
visit your profile to get your audience
to learn more you need to entice them
with an attention-grabbing first
sentence now to better organize your
content and implement good
use of white space consider using
headings subheadings and even bullet
points tip number five show your
character one thing you can do to stand
out from everyone else on LinkedIn is to
let your personality shine you can do
this by showing your drive and passion
for the industry that you're in or the
position you would like to have you can
also do this by sharing a brief
statement about your personal interests
such as I love horseback riding long
walks in the park and hot yoga tip
number six include a call to action at
the end of your summary right before
that expertise section I talked about
include some type of call to action for
your reader to get in touch with you
quickly this can be something like
sharing a link to your website your
online portfolio or even your email
address to make sure your profile is
looking sharp and that your Linkedin
summary is well-written take a look at
